Flat Labour Rate: $3,500 + Parts

A top end overhaul addresses the cylinder heads, barrels, pistons, and valve train of the Jabiru 3300 — the components most exposed to heat cycling and wear — without disturbing the crankcase or bottom end. It’s the standard remedy for top-end-specific issues (valve/seat wear, cylinder wear, head cracking, oil consumption) and is also commonly done proactively at recommended intervals per Jabiru service guidance.

Scope of work includes:

• Removal and disassembly of all six cylinder heads and barrels

• Inspection and measurement of barrels for wear, scoring, and out-of-round/taper against service limits

• Inspection of pistons, rings, and gudgeon pins; replacement as required

• Valve, valve seat, and valve guide inspection; lapping or replacement as needed

• Head inspection for cracking, warping, and thread condition (including keenserts where fitted)

• Reassembly with new gaskets, seals, and hardware throughout

• Correct torque sequencing and valve clearance setting to Jabiru specifications

• Compression testing and initial run-up/leak check on completion

• Cross-referenced against current Jabiru Service Bulletins and JEM documentation applicable to the engine variant and serial number

Pricing:

• Labour: flat rate $3,500 (covers the full overhaul, small hardware included)

• Parts: charged at cost — typically a Jabiru top-end overhaul kit (barrels, pistons, rings, gaskets, seals) plus any additional parts identified as unserviceable during inspection (e.g. valves, guides, heads)

• A firm parts quote will be provided once the engine is opened up and inspected

Turnaround: Approx. 32 hours labour; typical turnaround communicated on booking depending on parts lead time.
